kisir for roommates

A bill splitting app for roommates

Rent, electricity, internet, the big grocery shop and the toilet paper nobody wants to buy. kisir keeps one running balance for the flat, so the monthly argument becomes a one-tap payment.

kisir’s Overview tab: your balance, every member’s balance and your part of the plan.

How money works in a shared flat

In a shared flat, the costs never stop: the same bills every month, plus a stream of small things somebody paid for. Splitting each one the moment it happens is tiring; keeping a mental tally is worse. Usually one roommate quietly ends up paying more.

In kisir, the flat is one group. Everyone adds what they paid, the balance keeps itself up to date, and you settle whenever it suits you — monthly, or when someone moves out.

What helps in a shared flat

  • One running balance. Everyone sees what they owe or are owed right now, and who spent how much.
  • Fair splits for unequal rooms. Split by shares or exact amounts when the big room pays more, and only between the people a cost was for.
  • Settle up in one tap. kisir works out the fewest payments; record yours and the group closes itself when everyone is even. Adding an expense later re-opens it.
  • Nothing changes behind your back. Only the person who added an expense can edit or delete it, and every change is kept in its history.
  • Export any time. The whole ledger to CSV or Excel, free — handy when the lease ends.
