Terms of use

Last updated: 4 October 2026.

This is a plain-language description of how kisir actually works, not a legal document written by a lawyer.

Who this agreement is with

These terms are between you and the operator of kisir, a private individual based in the Republic of Armenia. By using the app, you agree to them, and they're governed by Armenian law. To reach the operator about these terms, write to support@kisir.am.

What kisir is

kisir is a calculator and record-keeper for shared expenses. It works out balances and a minimal set of settlement transfers inside a group, based on numbers group members enter. kisir does not hold, move, or transfer money, and it is not a payment service. It never touches a bank account, a card, or any payment rail. Paying each other back — however you choose to do that — happens entirely between you, outside the app.

Using kisir without an account

There's no registration. You choose a display name on your device and create or join groups using a code or link. Because a group's code is what grants access to it — not a login tied to you personally — anyone holding that code can join, and access to your device is effectively access to the groups it's part of. See the privacy policy for what that means in practice.

The free tier, exactly

Creating a group is free for the first 15 groups any device creates. There's no limit on:

  • Joining groups that other people create and invite you to
  • Expenses inside any group you're in
  • Using a different currency per expense, with the day's exchange rate filled in and editable
  • Exporting a group's ledger as CSV or Excel
  • Which of kisir's 20 languages you use

Once a device has created 15 groups, creating another requires the paid unlock described below — joining other people's groups stays free and unlimited regardless.

Paid features

An unlimited-groups unlock is planned but is not currently available in the app. No purchase can be made today, and no price is stated anywhere in the app or on this site. When it ships, this section will state its exact price, what it unlocks, and how refunds are handled through the relevant app store — before it's available to buy, not after.

Your data can be lost — export what matters

kisir is not a backup service. If a device is lost, an app is uninstalled, or something goes wrong with the server or database, group data can be lost. Exporting a group's ledger to CSV or Excel is free, available at any time, and is the only way to keep a copy of a group's data outside kisir itself — use it for anything you'd be upset to lose.

Accuracy of the numbers

kisir calculates from what group members enter. Exchange rates are filled in from a public daily rate source (ExchangeRate-API) as a convenience; they are reference mid-market rates, not the rate any bank or card actually charged, and they may be late, wrong or unavailable. Change the rate on an expense to the one you were charged, and check the figures yourself before anyone actually pays anyone.

What kisir does not do

No automatic bank settlement, no payments between people, no receipt scanning, no recurring expenses, and no account-security features — because there is no account. Notifications are a convenience: they can arrive late or not at all, so don't rely on them for anything time-critical. kisir is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any other expense-splitting app, or with Apple or Google.

Acceptable use

Don't use kisir to harass anyone, to store or share content you have no right to share, to try to break or overload the service, or to attempt to access a group you weren't given the code or link for.

No warranty

kisir is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, express or implied — including that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for a particular purpose. You're responsible for verifying its calculations before relying on them for anything that matters.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law in the governing jurisdiction above allows, kisir's operator is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app, including lost data or money disputes between group members. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

Changes to the service and these terms

Features may be added, changed, or removed as the app develops, and these terms may be updated to reflect that. Material changes will be reflected here with an updated date. Continuing to use kisir after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Ending your use of kisir

Since there's no account, there's nothing to formally close — you can stop using the app at any time by uninstalling it. kisir's operator may discontinue the service, or restrict access for anyone who violates the acceptable-use section above.
