How the trip calculator works
Add everyone on the trip and how many nights each of them stayed. Then each cost: how much, who paid, and how to split it. Costs everyone shares the same way — car hire, fuel, a group dinner — go equally. Accommodation goes by nights: a friend who stayed 3 of the 13 nights the group spent in the villa pays 3/13 of it, not a third.
For each person the calculator adds up what they paid and what their share came to; the difference is their balance. Then the person who owes the most pays the person who is owed the most, and that repeats until everyone is even — usually far fewer transfers than paying back each cost. Everything is worked out in whole cents, and nothing you type leaves this page.

Short answers
Why split accommodation by nights, not by days?
You pay a villa or hotel per night, so nights are what each person used. Someone who arrives on the last afternoon and leaves the next morning stayed one night, though they were there on two days.
What about a cost that was only for some of us?
This calculator splits a cost between everyone, equally or by nights. For a dinner only half the group went to, use the bill split calculator, where you tick who each expense was for — or kisir, where each expense can be for anyone in the group.
Can I use different currencies?
One currency per calculation. If you paid in euros and lira, convert first. In kisir each expense keeps its own currency, with the day’s exchange rate filled in.
Is anything saved or sent?
No. The calculation runs in your browser; nothing you type is sent anywhere or kept after you close the page.
