A Splid alternative, and how it compares
Splid already skips sign-up, so a Splid alternative is about different details, not the account. kisir is another no-account app: free with no ads, any currency per expense with an editable rate, and people without the app added by name.
If you are searching for a Splid alternative, the first thing to know is that Splid already does the thing many people look for: you don’t have to register. At the time of writing, Splid’s website says “there’s no sign-up required” and describes the app as free. So the question is not “how do I avoid accounts?” but “which app fits my group better?”
This page compares Splid and kisir (the app this site is about) fairly. Both are good ways to split a trip without anyone making an account.
What Splid does well
From Splid’s own website and its App Store listing, as of October 2026:
- No sign-up. The website says no registration is needed.
- Online and offline. The listing says you can create an offline group, or turn on sync so everyone enters expenses together.
- Many currencies. The listing says you can choose from more than 150 currencies and Splid converts the amount automatically.
- Fewest payments. The listing says Splid minimizes the number of payments needed to settle up.
- Summaries. The listing mentions summaries you can download as PDF or Excel.
- iPhone and Android. The website links to both stores.
That is a solid, simple feature set, and it explains why Splid is popular for holidays and flat-shares.

Listings change. Check Splid’s current pages for its exact pricing and what the in-app purchases include. This page deliberately doesn’t quote prices or limits for Splid, because we can’t keep them current.
Where kisir differs
These are the points that might tip the choice.
People without the app. In kisir you can add someone by name and they are in every split. Karen on a family trip doesn’t have to install anything, and if she does later, she can claim her spot.
An editable exchange rate. Each expense can be in its own currency. kisir fills in today’s central-bank or market mid rate and converts to the group’s currency, and you can change the rate to what your bank actually charged. The ledger shows both figures. For more on this, see how to split expenses in multiple currencies.
Joining. Share a group by link, QR code or six-character code. Everyone picks a name and is in.
Splits. One or several payers, split between only the people it was for, equally, by shares or by exact amounts. The editor won’t save until the amounts add up.
History and trust. Every expense shows who changed what, old to new. Only the person who added an expense can edit or delete it.
Languages. The app runs in 20 languages, among them English, Armenian and Russian.
Free, in full. No ads, no subscription, no cap on groups or people, and the export is free too.
What kisir does not do
To judge fairly: kisir doesn’t scan receipts, itemize a bill line by line, handle recurring expenses, connect to banks or cards, move money, set budgets or run on the web. Payments happen however you normally pay each other; kisir records them. If one of those is a must-have for you, check whether the app you are considering offers it.
Which one fits whom
Stay with Splid if your group already uses it, you want the app in French, German, Italian or Spanish, or you like its PDF summaries. Moving a group mid-trip is never worth it.
Try kisir if someone in the group won’t install anything, you often pay in several currencies and want to set the exact rate, you want the app in Armenian or Russian, or you want a ledger export without a purchase.
Either works if you just need to split a weekend, settle in two or three payments and not create a single account.
A quick way to decide
Ask three questions before the trip starts:
- Will everyone install the app, or will someone need to be added by name?
- Will you pay in more than one currency, and do you care which rate is used?
- Which language does your group actually read?
If the answers are “everyone, one currency, English”, you can’t go wrong with either. If they are “not everyone, several currencies, Armenian or Russian”, kisir is built for exactly that.
When the trip ends, the last step is the same in any app: settle up in as few payments as possible. We explain how that works in settle up with the fewest transfers, and if you are coming from a different app, a Splitwise alternative with no account covers the same ground.
Don’t run two ledgers for one trip. Pick one app, settle the old group where it lives, and start the next trip fresh in whichever you prefer.
